Today I felt the call to dive into play. And what better way to do that than with new camera toys! I now have an external flash and remote trigger which means I can place the flash unit independently of the camera and play around with lighting effects.
I went down to one of my favourite photography places along the Delaware river where brilliant flower are in full bloom and graffiti art lurks in dark places. I even came away with a self portrait!
Play is so important. It's how we learn from the earliest moments in our lives and I find that "playing around" with a concept, tool or practice help me feel out the boundaries, strengths and capacities of that thing.

After spending the last week getting ready to
go public as a photographer-for-hire this was a welcome pocket of time to simply be creative with no pressure or urgency.
